Victor Smith. The time for filing has ended. Five candidates have filed for state representative, Allen C. Reynolds and Ernest G. Joseph, Republicans; L. A. Wynaught, Laban M. Burt and John P. Barton (incumbent) Democrats. Both Reynolds and Joseph will appear on the primary ballot, but the Democratic nominating convention will eliminate one of their party hopefuls. Barton and family of Ely, Nev., came to Beaver for the Dairy District Race Meet. Ward Hood, local business man, had an unusual experience about dark Sunday evening had an unusual experience when the transmission locked on his car as he was driving down Beaver Canyon at the Cable Crossing above Thompson Thomp-son Hole. He got under the car and was working on it when it suddenly sud-denly began to roll. He quickly crawled from under it and at-temped at-temped to stop the car by holding hold-ing one of the doors, but it plunged over a 600-foot embankment em-bankment and rolled over and over to the bottom. As it was too dark for Mr. Hood to make his way to the bottom of the canyon, he caught a ride to town, and Monday morning returned to the scene of the crash. The car was completely com-pletely demolished. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Williams of San Francisco are visiting friends and relatives in Beaver. Newcomers to Beaver are Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hayes, who have moved into the Chas. Nelson home. Mr. Hayes is the district representative for the Minneapolis-Moline Company. Mr. and Mrs. John Gunn and daughter Jane Ann, and son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rhead Gunn, are visiting this week in Chicago with another son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Byron Gunn. Miss Marilyn Farnsworth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Nor-man Farnsworth of Venice, Calif., is visiting at the home of Mr. and . Mrs. Ernest G. Joseph, Jo-seph, and with other relatives in Beaver. A pretty home wedding was that of Miss Betty Jean Brink-erhoff, Brink-erhoff, daughter of Mrs. John Brinkerhoff, and Mr. Ralph Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Martin, on July 15th at the Brinkerhoff home. The ceremony was .performed by James Williams, bishop of the Greenville L D S Ward, an uncle of the bridegroom. Miss Barbara Patterson was bridesmaid and Sam Hickman Jr. was best man. The bride wore a yellow afternoon frock with a corsage of red roses. Thirty relatives and close friends attended the wedding. A dessert luncheon was served by Mrs. Brinkerhoff. The young couple will make their home in Beaver. Announcement is made of the recent marriage of Leon L. Edwards, Ed-wards, . son of Mr. and Mrs. David Edwards of Beaver, to Miss LaVon Warner of Salem. The ceremony was performed on July 23, in Salt Lake City. The members of the deaf church in Salt Lake City, to which this deaf couple belong, honored them with a reception. They visited two days following follow-ing the wedding with relatives in Beaver. They will make the:'ir home in Salt Lake City, where Mr. Edwards Ed-wards is employed by the Sweat Candy Co. Pfc. Dallas B. Low, who has been visiting his parents here for the past 10 days, left Beaver Beav-er Wednesday to return to his base at Hill Field at Ogden. Prior to his furlough Pfc. Man-zione, Man-zione, service officer. Miss Betty White was Goddess God-dess of Liberty in the Pioneer Day parade here Monday. Her attendants were Nelda Harris and Jolene Deleuw. Miss Donna Don-na Parkinson was Miss Utah, with attendants Glenna Reusch and Billie Merell. Miss Irene Gale was Miss Beaver, with Eileen Roberts and Revola Parkinson Par-kinson as attendants. The parade included a wide variety of entries, including well decorated floats, pioneer characters, city officials, national na-tional guard units, Indians, obsolete ob-solete and modern vehicles, clowns, horsemen, 4-H Club entries, en-tries, and entries from all church and civic organizations. The Beaver H:'gh School and Junior High bands added to the success of the march. Bob Nowers was marshal of the day. The Queen of the Dairy District Dis-trict Race Meet, Miss Jerry Griffiths, and her attendants, Miss Marie Orton and Miss Rose Elise Lund, rode beautiful horses in the parade and were featured at the last racing program pro-gram at the track Monday afternoon. aft-ernoon.
