Holm on Jan. 27th, to celebrate the anniversary of this order. At 1 p. m. a very delicious luncheon lunch-eon was served to Mrs. Vern Shingleton, Mrs. Glenn Barnes, Mrs. J. D. Johnston, Mrs. Kenneth Ken-neth Hollis, Mrs. W. G. White, Mrs. A. H. Connell, Mrs. R. E. Banks, Mrs. D. James and the hostess. Everyone joined in a game of pokeno, with prizes being awarded to Mrs Barnes and Mrs. Banks. JANUARY 28th was the 12th birth anniversary for Alice Cook, daughter of Walter Cook. The occasion was properly cele-I cele-I brated when the following , friends gathered at Alice's home I Saturday evening: Sharen Kes-ler, Kes-ler, Helen Lyman, Nancy Mel-lor, Mel-lor, Karen and Patsy Walker, Janice Lynn, Jean Eyre, Jo Ann Hughes. -Margaret Banks, and sister Ethel. Rhyme and musical chair were the games played, after which the group danced. Ice cream, birthday cake and hot . chocolate were served as re-I re-I freshments. 1 ' I I LITTLE ALLEN FOTHER-INGHAM, FOTHER-INGHAM, 3-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Dixon Fotheringham of Beaver, was honored at the home of his grandmother, Mrs. S. A. Zabriskie, Tuesday afternoon, after-noon, on his birth anniversary. Grandma Zabriskie baked a birthday cake and the family enjoyed a party. AT THE ROYAL CLUB Cafe last Thursday the Lady Lions met, and enjoyed a delicious 5-course dinner. At each place was a snowman made of popcorn, pop-corn, with very clever little hats, which were used as place-cards place-cards and favors. After dinner. Monte Carlo whist was played, wilh Mar-I Mar-I jorie Schramm, Jeanette Kohler and Billie Stoker receiving the prizes. Mrs. Gertrude Easton of Beaver was a guest, and Mrs. Nina Bingham was initiated into membership. Hostesses were Donna Chris-tensen, Chris-tensen, Audrey Skillicorn and Bobbie Henkel. MR. AND MRS. ROBERT L. ! TOMSIK announce the engagement engage-ment of their daughter, Bonnie, to Mr. Ted V. Myers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor G. Myers. The wedding will take place Wednesday, February 8th. MRS. ANNA MAE HICKMAN HICK-MAN was honored Thursday evening at a stork shower given at the home of Mrs. Doris Gus-tavson. Gus-tavson. Mrs. Gertrude Mel-huish Mel-huish and Mrs. Gustavson were co-hostesses. The evening was devoted to playing guessing games, Anna Mae. Jackie Williams, Beth Edwards, Ed-wards, Beth Leffingwell and Jessie Williams being the prize winners. Each guest was presented pre-sented with a crocheted soap turtle as a favor. A delightful lunch was served, each plate containing (a pink plastic basket filled with j rock candy and nuts. Anna Mae received many useful and beautiful presents j for the newcomer. j j Besides the hostesses and their guest of honor, those pres-' ent were Mesdames Jackie Wil-; I liams, Rae Thompson, Lorraine i Horton, Lula Yither, Lucille Belliston, Vvs Baxter, Dixie Lamb, Jessie Williams, Pat Busch, Beth Edwards, Beth Leffingwell Lef-fingwell and Helene Pasborg. MR. AND MRS. S. A. WILLIAMS WIL-LIAMS observed their 14th wedding anniversary last Sunday, Sun-day, Jan. 29th. Friends who droped in during the afternoon were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Grimshaw, Mr. and Mrs. K. B. Coon, Coach and Mrs. Perry Neal, Mr. and Mrs. George Jefferson, Jef-ferson, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Archer, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cline, and Mrs. Nina Burger and Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Jef- , ferson. I MRS. KENNETH HOLLIS en- 1 tertained her bridge club Wed-- Wed-- '- nesday evening. A delicious salad course was served to the ladies present, Mrs. Rickerson, Mrs. Leech, Mrs. Morris, Mrs. Pitchforth, Mrs. Baxter and invited in-vited guests Mrs. Glenn Barnes and Mrs. Nathan Barnes. Prizes were won by Mrs. Pitchforth, Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Baxter. House prizes went to Mrs. Rickerson, Mrs. Leech and Mrs. Glenn Barnes. PHYLIS KEETCH entertained members of her pinochle club last Saturday, with three invited invit-ed guests, Maudell Crane, Fern Tanner and Mabel Westergard. Members present were Toni Uffens, Margaret Mahoney, Gwen Ogden, Dorothy Morris, Beulah Wunderlich, Lola Banks, Ethel Mclntyre, Louise Del-gardo. Del-gardo. Prizes were won by Gwen, Margaret and Fern. A luncheon was served before be-fore the game of cards. PINOCHLE was played at the home of Mrs. Almeda Hol-brook Hol-brook Monday evening with the following ladies receiving the ( prizes: Mrs. Norma Angard, Mrs. Alma Sly, and Mrs. Merlin Mer-lin Merry weather. Other guests playing cards included Noma Bradshaw, Peggy Sullivan, Vera Waite, Maurine Miller and La-Rue La-Rue Turner. Mrs. Holbrook served refreshments after the game of cards. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Nina Berger, who observed her birth anniversary on Sunday, Jan. 29th. The Telephone Girls sur- prised her with a little get-together late Sunday evening, and presented her with a gift. They also served birthday cake and ice cream. Enjoying the occasion were Gerry Lyman, Jeanne Bracken, Clarice Smith, Shirley Smith, Margaret Mahoney, Faye Williams. Wil-liams. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Grimshaw and Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Williams, joined the group to take pictures of the "Hello Girls." Mrs. Jean Butler and Mrs. Audrey Skillicorn. Pinochle was played after dvner, with Mrs. Voorhees, Mrs. Lish, Mrs. Christensen and Mrs. Perkins receiving prizes. ON WEDNESDAY evening a Mother and Daughter party was held at the home of Janice Nelson. A talk on "Courtsh'p" was given by Bishop Carlyle Gronning, after which games were played and refreshments served. Those attending were Mrs. Fowles and Lois, Mrs. Barnes and Joan, Mrs. Howard Lund and Bonnie, Mrs. Carlton and Norma, Mrs. K. Whitaker and LaDean, Ann Kesler, Mrs. King, Mrs. J. Marshal1, Mrs. Vera Bond, and Orpha Nelson. I : THE KIMMELL COONS were hosts last Friday evening to "the Beaver bunch" after the I Beaven-Milford ball game. Included In-cluded in the group were Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hickman, Mr. and Mrs. Mel Skinner, Mr. and Mrs. Rue Heppler and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Johnson. Milford folks who joined thq party were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Clar-ence Grimshaw, Mrs. Kate McDonald, Mc-Donald, and Mr. and Mrs .S. A. j Williams. Mrs. Coon served tasty refreshments at a late I hour. I AT A "GET-TOGETHER" at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Zabriskie, to celebrate Bud Zabriskie's birth anniversary, were the hosts, Mr. and Mrs Claude Horton, and Mr. and Mrs. ' Bud Zabriskie. Mrs. S. A. Zabriskie prepared a delicious deli-cious hot dinner for the family. |
