Show GENE KIRK HAS DEVOTED LIFE TO BUILDING, BOOSTING MILFORD VALLEY "D. E. Kirk, Realtor," is known to hundreds of Milford Mil-ford Valley residents, but "Gene Kirk, Milford Valley Rooster and Developer," is known to comparatively few persons. Of course they're one and the same person, but few residents of this area know of the many years of untiring un-tiring effort Gene has put in, fighting for permanent, over-all development of the resources of the Valley. More than any one person Gene Kirk is responsible for the bringing to this area of outside capital for development,) for the drilling of deep wells to irrigate arid acres, and the many other innovations which have changed the Milford Mil-ford Valley from a "busted" land development to a pros- porous farming community. Gene first went into the real j estate business in Milford about i 1913. Two years later, he "went back to the mines to get another stake," but soon was back selling sell-ing real estate and prevailing upon outside men with capital to invest their dollars in Milford Valley. In the intervening years 36 long years Gene has continually continu-ally labored for more and better bet-ter development, devoting his life to promotion of the area. Gene is a native of Milford. He was born here in 1894, on what is now the Bishop Goodwin Good-win farm. j When most of his relatives moved to the warmer climate of Southern California, he con- j tinued to make this his home, and continued to work for realization real-ization of his life-long dream the full and complete develop- rnent of Milford Valley and the making of Milford a bigger and better city. No one but Gene knows the number of "battles" he's ' had with road engineers, water engineers en-gineers and financial agencies, in his efforts to obtain better things for this area. He has earned considerable money in Milford and the Valley, but spent most of it in further publicizing pub-licizing the area's resources and advantages. The folks who live in Milford and enjoy the city's modern advantages, ad-vantages, good roads and fine . schools, owe a debt of gratitude to Gene Kirk. |
