CHRISTIAN SCIENCE Psalms 138:8 provides the golden text for the lesson-sermon on "Probation After Death" at all authorized Christian Science churches on Sunday, April 24. It reads, "The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy I mercy, O Lord, endureth for- ever." Another significant Biblical citation reads, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, the hour is coming com-ing and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live" (John 5:25). Mary Baker Eddy writes in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, "If the Principle, rule, and demonstration of man's being are not in the least understood under-stood before what is termed death overtakes mortals, they will rise no higher spiritually in the scale of existence on account ac-count of that single experience, but will remain as material as before the transition, still seeking seek-ing happiness thru a material, instead of a spiritual sense of Life, and from selfish and inferior in-ferior motives." |
