Show Of Interest to Women MARCH 18th is the date two University of Utah students, Miss Ann Marie Outzen, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward La-Mar La-Mar Outzen, and Eugene Dewey Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene F. Wright of Brigham City, have set for their wedding. Nuptials will be solemnized in a candlelight ceremony at Alpha Phi house ,1386 Butler ave., Salt Lake City, with a reception re-ception following. Attending her sister as maid of honor will be Miss Mary LaMar Outzen. Best man will be Sidney Neslen. Acting as ushers will be Brent Lynch and Darrell Madsen. Miss Outzen is attending the U of U, where her affiliations are with Alpha Phi and Phi Gamma. She is secretary of the student branch of American Pharmaceutical Association. Mr. Wright is working on his M.A. at the U., and is a member mem-ber of Kappa Sigma. FIVE HUNDRED was the evening' sentertainment at the home of Lucy Reese Monday j evening. The ladies who re ceived prizes were Seldona J Easton, Lillian Atkin and Neva Kinross. Other players were j Luella Fisher, Margaret Arnold, Helen Leech, Dee Ferguson, ! Olive Young, Margaret Lyman, Diana McCulley and Evelyn Brannon. A tasty luncheon was served at a late hour. MR. AND MRS. K. B. COON had the "Beaver Bunch" in after the Milford-Beaver basketball game last Friday. Included in the guest list were Alta and Sam Hickman, Flossie and Sam Johnson, Marva and Rue Hep-pier, Hep-pier, Mel and Sue Skinner, Kate and A. L. McDonald, Edith and Grimmie Grimshaw, Mr. Grant Tolton, and Hamner and Elvira Christensen. Kimmell presided over the tea- table, with Sam Hickman and Sam Johnson pouring. Mel and Grimmie served the tea. with Mr. Tolton and Hamner passing the cream and sugar. Late in the evening, the gents were herded out of the kitchen long enough for Mildred and Alta to serve tastily-spiced spa-1 ghetti and meat balls, with ' a wide variety of hors doeuvres and appetizers. ' All ate heartily, and played the game all over again overj their coffee cups. i ACCOMPANYING THE Milford Mil-ford American Legion basketball basket-ball team to Payson, where they competed in the state Legion tournament, were Commander and Mrs. Gerald Hickman, Coach and Mrs. George L. Grib-ble, Grib-ble, Mr. and Mrs. James Hickman, Hick-man, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon U'Ren, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Hol-lingshead, Hol-lingshead, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Gustavson, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Brannon, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Carter, Car-ter, Blair Coon, Darrell Perkins, Perk-ins, and Jimmie Griffiths. A group from Salt Lake who joined the Milford boosters included in-cluded Mrs. Darrell Perkins, El-wood El-wood Vinvent, J. Johansen, Phil Lund, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kinross. A SOCIAL EVENING was enjoyed en-joyed at the home of Mrs. lone Baxter last Thursday evening by Mrs. Josephine Killam, Mrs. Olive Root, Mrs. Florence Beard, Mrs. Nelda Memmott, Mrs. Vvs Baxter, Mrs. Verna Tomsik, Mrs. Thelma Gillins, Mrs. Irene Griffiths and Mrs. Seldona Easton. East-on. During the evening cherry pie a la mode Was served by the hostess. ' ft MRS. FONDA McGILL was the hostess for her Thursday Nite Bridge club, last week. At bridge, Mrs. Loretta Cline received the first prize, Mrs. Luella Fisher, second high, and Mrs. Merle Carlson, third high. Stonehocker and Mr. and Mrs. Ashley Workman returned ; Monday morning from Los An- j geles, where they attended the California Junior Old Timers j Week, February 23 to 27. j The Los Angeles Junior Old Timers Club of the U P was host to the clubs from Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. The members mem-bers of .the two guest clubs ar-1 rived in Los Angeles Thursday i afternoon in three special cars, and were met at the Union De-: pot by a reception committee, j That evening the two clubs werej feted at a dinner and square j dance at the Old Timer clubj rooms.. j Friday, after breakfast at thej club rooms, the guests were j taken by special buses on a tour of interesting spots in Southern ! California, ending up in Holly-! wood where they were, entertained enter-tained with a luncheon at Earl , Carroll's, where the radio pro-' pro-' gram "Meet the Missus" was broadcast for them. Through courtesy of the Long Beach Harbor Committee, the three clubs were escorted on a boat tour of the harbor. This trip was especially interesting as it included inspection of the "moth ball" fleet and other restricted re-stricted water. ; The week-end of recreation ended Saturday evening with aj formal dinner dance in thej Marine Room of the Wilton j Hotel at Long Beach. Genial Jack McElroy was master of ceremonies, with his "Breakfast in Hollywood" show. MRS. MARIE CHERCHALIS was the honored guest at a stork tea given by the ladies of Ruth Circle at the home of Mrs. Margaret Murdock, Wednesday, February 23. Everyone enjoyed a delightful visit and a delicious lunch. The tea table was appropriately decorated dec-orated for the occasion with the traditional bird carrying his precious pre-cious bundle. The centerpiece was made very attractive by gay ribbon tulips. Mrs. Vena Wilson Wil-son and Mrs. Jennie Martin poured. The very charming official of-ficial hostess was Mrs. Lemmah Boucher, who was ably assisted assist-ed by Mrs. Margaret Murdock and Mrs. Bobby Henkel. Other members of Ruth Circle Cir-cle who attended were Mes-dames Mes-dames Norma Walters, Cora Altman, Lulu Clay, Virginia U'Ren, Selma Carlson and Anna Cochrane. Eastern Star special guests were Mrs. Patricia Baker, Mrs. Nina Burger, Mrs. Fonda McGill, Mrs. Lesa Acklin and Mrs. Elaine Archer. Mrs. Cherchalis was showered with the love and good wishes of all her chapter sisters, and was given a pair of beautiful white wool blankets. THE REGULAR MEETING of the Silver Desert Carnp, D U P, was held at the home of Mrs. Erma Cline, Wednesday. Assorted cake and parfait were served to 16 members, after which the regular meeting meet-ing was held. The lesson was , given by Mrs. Cora Jones and Mrs. Lou Moore, on the subject "The Diary of Robert Gardner," which tells of the early day hardships endured by the pio-: pio-: neers who hleped settle Southern South-ern Utah. Mrs. Cassie McKnight led the group in singing pioneer songs. Mrs. Edith Osborne and Mrs. Nina Bingham were co-hostesses for the afternoon. Mrs. Letha Smyth was accepted as a new member of the organization. The lesson for April will be The Story of the Blind in Utah, and will cover blind pioneers, their successes, training and accomplishments. ac-complishments. I t MR. AND MRS. Todd Chamberlain Cham-berlain invited Mr, and Mrs. Harold Barrick of Beaver and Mr. and Mrs. LaVon Griffiths of Minersville, to their home after the Beaver-Milford game last Friday evening. The couples played cards, after which Mrs. ' Chamberlain served a dinner. BRIDGE was the evening's entertainment at the home of Marie Charchalis on Monday, February 21st. Leah Pullem and Ina Norton were high score winners and Melba White received re-ceived the consolation. Other players enjoying the evening were Wilma Weston, Selma Kirk and Norma Yount. An additional feature of the evening were the surprise gifts given to Norma Yount and Marie Cherchalis by the other members of the group. MRS. VIRGINIA YOUNG had as her guests Monday evening Mrs. Mae Carter, Mrs. Afton Nielson, Mrs. Naomi Baker and Mrs. Janet Walker. A salad icourse was served at 11:30. LAST THURSDAY Mrs. La-Priel La-Priel Banks was an honored guest at the meeting of her bridge club at the home of Mrs. Jessie Williams. It being a blue and pink shower, the club presented pre-sented Mrs. Banks with a nice gift. Bingo was played, with Mildred Mil-dred Wilcox winning high prize, Mrs. Banks, cut prize, and Mrs. Rene Hardy the consolation. Other members enjoying the evening were Lucille Belliston, Ida Hardy, Utahna Heap, Maur-ine Maur-ine Miller, Leila Martin and Irene Carter. Cherry pie a la mode was served after the game of bingo.
