Show CITY DADS ASK POWER CO, TO . ATTEND SESSION The 1948 edition of the Milford Mil-ford City Council went on roc--ord at their meeting last Thursday as being a little less than satisfied with the present and past power servi-i being offered this area by Telluride Power Company. After considerable con-siderable discussion, which included in-cluded some caustic comments, the council, upon motion by Councilman Hughes, requested officials of the power company io meet with them at Ihe next regular meeting, March 18, lo discuss Ihe mailer of belter service. Coucilmen were of the opinion that until better service is assured, as-sured, there is no possibility of inducing manufacturers and industrial in-dustrial users to consider Milford as a location for plants. Authorization for payment of $400 to the State Racing Association, Asso-ciation, to cover fees for use of starting gate, etc., and jockey fees, was made, after it was reported re-ported that Sam Johnson had represented Milford at the meeting meet-ing of the association, and the dates for the Milford race meet had been set for June 25, 26 and 27: Application for a card table license, to be operated at the Sportsmen's Club, was approved. 150 bicycle licenses will be purchased from the Salt Lake Stamp Co., and fee for registration registra-tion of licenses was set at 50c. Mayor Smith reported that a contact with Mr. Schmidt of the CAA had brought assurance that Milford City would be given a clear title to additional land at the Milford Airport, which is recessary to continued improvement improve-ment of the port. This transfer of title was verified by a telegram tele-gram from Senator Watkins. A telegram received from State Aeronautics Director Joe Ber-gin Ber-gin indicated that a call for bids for paving the Milford Airport runways had been issued, and state officials expected to let the contract in the next few days. The City Recorder was instructed in-structed to contact the state sanitarian, san-itarian, regarding the work which must be done at the municipal muni-cipal swimming pool before it will pass state health specifications. specifica-tions. Mr. Leon Williams, representing represent-ing the Volunteer Fire Department, Depart-ment, asked for action on the proposal to move the fire siren to a new location, or install an-ether an-ether siren to assure the arousing arous-ing oi firemen located in the nore remote sections of the city. After a general discussion Councilman Bradfield moved to I instruct Councilman Altman to I investigate cost of moving the I siren, and cost of installing a new siren to be synchronized with the present alarm. |
