It is an over-all program pro-gram that will benefit spiritually, spiritu-ally, physically and financially, every citizen of this generation and those generations yet to come. There is nothing m the books that would indi--nte a change over-night after a master plan is adopted. Milford is growing and changing almost from day to day, as do all cities and communities, in response to diverse, uncoordinated forces. It is because of these uncoordinated uncoordi-nated forces that city development develop-ment should follow a well-thought-out, long-range pattern to bring these changes about. To correct the mistakes of the oast and realize future hopes re-1 quires foresight and time. Long-' range goals must be adopted, and their achievement must be realized real-ized by guiding the public and private expenditures year by year on new building, replacement replace-ment and repair. Clean-up, paint-up. fix-up campaigns cam-paigns are an indication of the people's earnest desire to make Milford a better place in which to live. The active participation and interest in the spring drive produced fine results, but far-visioned far-visioned citizens are beginning to demand a program of greater scope. There is a demand for correcting to uneconomical use of land in the business district. Civic minded citizens want waste land within the city, either in the center of blocks or along unused j portions of the streets or in other undeveloped parcels variously j located, planned so they will not! be a drain on the financial econ-1 omy, a hazard thru fire and dis- ease encouragement and a blot on the community's appearance. They know that public buildings build-ings constructed one at a time without the previous develop-, develop-, ment of a long-range building t. |
