Show LOCAL DAIRYMEN JOIN MERCHANDISE CAMPAIGN Beaver County dairy farmers will join their neighbors across the state and nation during the month of June in supporting the American Dairy Association's nation-wide program for "Sales Not Surplus," according to County Agent Glen Baird. Plans have already been prepared pre-pared by the American Dairy Association, representing five million dairy farmers, for an expanded business action campaign cam-paign of advertising, merchandising merchandis-ing and research to develop new and profitable outlets for milk, butter, cheese and other dairy foods. "Busy farmers can effectively meet the challenge of competition competi-tion for dairy markets by backing back-ing their American Dairy Association," Asso-ciation," County Agent Baird said in praising every farmer for doing his share. Finances for the ADA program pro-gram come exclusively from producing dairymen as voluntary volun-tary deductions on milk or cream checks during June each year. Dairy farmers in this area will participate by making voluntary vol-untary contributions at the rate of one cent per pound of butter-fat butter-fat delivered at the dairy for the 30 days of June. These funds provide for a full year's nationwide nation-wide business program. The following local dairy plants are cooperating with the farmers of this area by making June butterfat deductions for the ADA business action program: pro-gram: ; Beaver Maid Cheese Co. Brooklawn Creamery Co. County Agent Baird explained that the "Sales Not Surplus" campaign will be spearheaded by the- ADA'S June Dairy Month merchandising event, "Butter Days Here Again," with color advertisements in the leading national women's magazines, out door advertising, related food tie-ins, and many point of sale activities at retail stores. Other dairy foods will receive their share of attention in the advertising and merchandising program at different intervals during the year. County Agent Baird said the business action program of the ADA is one of dairy farmers in partnership. They finance, control and direct the organization and its promotional promo-tional activities. He further referred re-ferred to it as a program of "dairy farmers taking business action for the progress and prosperity pros-perity of dairying." |
