He married Mary Hansen and she later died. He was married to Jessie LaFol-lette LaFol-lette May 11, 1932 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a veteran of World War I. Active in the LDS Church he was a high priest, had served a mission in Eastern Canada and also four short term missions. He served as an officer in the genealogy department depart-ment and priesthood quorums. He graduated from the BYU with a bachelor's degree and received his masters from the University of Utah. He taught school in Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah. Following his retirement, retire-ment, he has farmed in the Springville area. Survivors include his wife, four sons and one daughter: Zelbert Sumsion, Oakland, California; Cal-ifornia; Kay Sumsion, Salt Lake City; Mark Sumsion, Springville; Neil Sumsion, Cedar Ce-dar City; Mrs. Leon (Fawn) Haney, Alhambra, California; 17 grandchildren; a brother, Earl, of Springville. |
