Show Cancer Crusade opens in area A house tc house campaign in the residential crusade of the 1968 Cancer Crusade has begun in Utah County as the second phase of the independent statewide state-wide campaign. Money collected will go to cancer research and education. One of three is saved from can- eer. One out of two could be saved if cancer were detected, diagnosed and treated esrly enough through the educational program, it was reported. Last fall, for the first time, the Utah County units conducted conduc-ted the business and industry portion of the drive with the house to house residential drive set during April. American Cancer Society is not an agency of the United Fund in the county. Goal for the 1969 crusade is to raise $200,000 state-wide. The money is spent for cancer prevention through public education, edu-cation, support of medical research re-search and service to cancer patients. pa-tients. Every $10 collected in Utah marked for research, the National Na-tional American Cancer Society returns nearly $50 back to the state in the form of grants for research at hospitals and universities. uni-versities. During 1968 there were 11 major grants in effect in the state totaling $588,000.
