Show $100,000 in damages Workmen escape injury in explosion at powder plant; building destroyed buildings of the plant so situated sit-uated to increase the safety factor. A night watchman at the plant indicated he had checked the dryer building a short time before the explosion and had noticed nothing unusual. An explosion of undetermined undetermin-ed origin, wrecked a portion of the large nitro-starch drying dry-ing building at Trojan Powder Company plant, mouth of Spanish Span-ish Fork canyon, Monday at about 9 p.m. Springville fire department responded to the alarm together to-gether with that of Mapleton, Salem and Spanish Fork, the firemen fighting the blaze for about two hours before bringing bring-ing it under control. The Mapleton Map-leton department was on standby stand-by service all night. One workman, David Mitchell, Mit-chell, 38, of Spanish Fork, was reported in the doorway of the building- when the blast occurred. oc-curred. He dived for safety and was knocked outward by the blast and escaped with minor burns. He remained at the scene to assist with fighting the fire. Company officials said the monetary loss would be considerable, con-siderable, some estimating it as high as $100,000.
