Show Talk on Far East enjoyed by club Ladies Literary Club members mem-bers were guests of Mrs. E. A. Jacobsen at her home Thursday Thurs-day evening, with Mrs. William L. Schreiner, president, conducting. conduc-ting. Mary Ellen Edmonds of Mapleton, Ma-pleton, who teaches nursing at BYU, told of experiences while serving an LDS mission in the Far East. In connection with her talk, she showed colored slides of areas in Taiwan, Hong Kong and the Philippines in which she worked. She described describ-ed the acute water situation in the various countries and the extreme poverty endured by people in the crowded areas. Miss Edmonds also showed some lovely souvenirs she brought from the foreign lands. The program included piano solos furnished by granddaughters granddaugh-ters of the hostess, Jane Jacobsen Ja-cobsen and Lee Anne Winger. The collect was read by Mrs. John Y. Bearnson. The evening began with a delicious de-licious tray luncheon served by the hostess to members and guests, the latter including, Mrs. Lee W. Davis, Mrs. Wendell Wen-dell Winger, Mrs. Ralph Jacob-sen, Jacob-sen, Mrs. Waldo Jacobsen and Mrs. John Strong. Next meeting of the club is to be Dec. 1, at the home of Rea Straw. |
