Show when upon entering the bank he discovered the statue was wearing wear-ing a diaper. His amusement and mock rage' was enough to make the decoration of Etienne a tradition among employees and after every holiday the statue was appropriately decorated decor-ated when Mr. Randall opened the doors. A Diaper For Etinne Provot! Etienne Provot, the trapper and explorer for whom Provo is named, occupied an important impor-tant place in State Bank of Provo. The "old" bank featured a huge framed portrait of Provot standing realistically gazing out at the horizon, and in his hands was his rifle. When the newly remodeled bank was opened, the print of Etienne had been donated to the Provo City Library where it can still be seen today. In its place was an impressionistic modern sculpture sculp-ture in metal, a towering, rough, thin skelton of a man holding what appears to be a spear: . . and labeled "Etienne Provot." The sculpture ij striking strik-ing and K. A. Randall was particularly par-ticularly fond of the piece. His consternation can be imagined one day following New Year's |
