Show Fish and Game lists rules on hunting age The Utah Department of Fish and Game today listed the following regulations in answer to many questions concerning the minimum age when juveniles juven-iles may hunt game bird animals. ani-mals. Under Utah law, a juvenile may purchase his first license to hunt upon reaching the age of 14 and after successfully passing a required course in hunter safety training. From ages 14 and 15, he may hunt only game birds during open seasons. He must at all times while hunting during this period, per-iod, be accompanied by a person per-son 21 years of age or older. Federal law does not require the possession of a migratory waterfowl stamp until a person per-son reaches the age of 16. Parents and guardians are reminded that youngsters of ages 14 and 15, when found in the field alone or in company only with other juveniles, may be cited to appear in juvenile court and in such instances, the parent or guardian may be subject to arrest on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The law further provides that any person after reaching the age of 16 and having complied com-plied with hunter safety regulations, regu-lations, may then purchase any of the several adult fishing, hunting or combination licenses licen-ses and enjoy all of the privileges privi-leges allowed under such issue. |
