Show Auxiliary hears Girls Staters Legion Auxiliary activity for the current season began Wednesday Wed-nesday of last week, with an opening social, under direction of the new president, Mrs. Gladys Pennington and other new officers, who acted as hostesses. hos-tesses. Serving besides Mrs. Pennington, were, Delia Hut-ton Hut-ton and Marge Frandsen, vice presidents; Hazel Roy lance, secretary; sec-retary; Florence Boyer, treasurer; treas-urer; Etta Jones, chaplain; Clara Sumsion, historian; Hazel Haz-el Hafen and Beth Coffman, sargeants-at-arms. Ellen Anderson entertained with a vocal solo during the evening and Julia Sumsion gave a medley on the piano of patriotic music. The social honored the retiring retir-ing officers. On behalf of the unit, President Pennington presented Manila Brown, retiring retir-ing president, with a beautiful American flag, in lieu of a past president's pin, which she had received at the close of a previous pre-vious term as president. Other retiring officers received books. Minutes of the June meeting of the auxiliary was read by the retiring secretary, Mrs. Inez Chader. The meeting was then turned over to Helen Wheeler, Girls State chairman last year, and she in turn introduced the Girls State delegates, Jo Chader, Bonnie Bishop, Linda Child, and Linda Parker.
