Partitioned off from the main room is a smaller committee com-mittee room and also larger room which may be opened by divider partitions into the mass meeting ' room. A drive-in window on the west of the building is a convenient con-venient phase of the new structure, struc-ture, both for office workers and the general public. Modern stairways in the center of the building and on either end, lead to spacious basement area. A novel and convenient feature fea-ture of the main hall is the metal gate which may ' be pulled down from the ceiling to the floor when the main city offices are closed. A similar simi-lar device closes the office main window inside. There is a letter and also a book drop opening in the west wall of the building for . the convenience of the public after hours. All of the windows in the building have a smoked-glass appearance on the inside and give a black effect obscuring vision from the outside. Library facilities The spacious library facilities facili-ties in the north portion of the building would be a credit to a city much larger than Springville. Off from the main portion is a small "quiet room" which may be used by small groups to study. There is also a room for magazine files. There is the children's department depart-ment on the northwest and the adult library on the northeast. Carpeting at the entrance of the large room, adds to the quiet atmosphere. To the right is the counter from which books for both departments are checked in and out. Spacious shelves line the walls and are arranged in the center of the large room. Beautiful heavy, handmade tables and chairs are arranged about both sections. sec-tions. While there is yet considerable consider-able equipment and furniture to be installed in the library including in-cluding magazine racks and other pieces, the entire space is being attractively arranged and as time goes on it, will be an inviting and convenient place for townspeople, both old and young, to spend many leisure hours and where much fine reading material is avaliable. The personnel of both the city offices and the library are enthusiastic over the fine new quarters and are most gracious in showing the general public about the place. By the close of the summer, it is expected that most furnishings furn-ishings and equipment will be Installed and the entire building build-ing will be running on a smooth and efficient basis. |
