Show Second Ward team places second in division Junior M Men meet Springville Third whipped Springville 10th to cop fourth place; and Payson Fifth won over Payson Sixth, 43-41, to capture fifth place and the consolation crown. Kolob's Second Ward Jr. M Men basketball team came out in second place in the divisional division-al meet held last week in Spanish Fork, losing to the Salem team 55-32. Richard Miner, son of Dr. and Mrs. Richard K. Miner, was named the tourney's outstanding out-standing player. Reed Nielson of Salem got the most valuable valu-able player award. David Barney, Bar-ney, Lake Shore, won the foul pitch contest. Payson Sixth won the team sportsmanship trophy. Three Springville players were named on the all-star team. Members of the tourney all-star all-star team included: Mike Harris, Har-ris, Payson ISixth; Blake Sud-weeks, Sud-weeks, Payson Fifth; Jerry Mangelson, Levan; David Thorn, Springville 10th; Jerry Nelson Santaquin Second; Frank Leifson, Spanish Fork First; David Barney, Lake Shore; eBrt Oakey, Springville Third; Boyd Van Patten, Ko-lob Ko-lob Second and Gary Briggs, Salem. In other games Saturday night, Spanish Fork First won ' third place in the tourney by defeating Lake Shore, 45-42 |
