Show Letter to the editor VFW expresses : appreciation for cooperation The mid-winter conference of ,the Department of Utah of che k Veterans of Foreign Wars j, Which ended February 21 proved pro-ved to be a highly successful !one. For this success, the members mem-bers of Springville Post No. 5787 owe thanks to many peo-.ole. peo-.ole. To put on a convention of :his type requires money and j:o finance it, Post No. S7S7 ; nembers sold advertisirg space 'n our program booklet. Al- vnost every businessman in ppringville was contacted and vith only two exceptions all Responded either by put-.hising idvertising space or by donat- ng door prizes and other articles ar-ticles needed. This response -vas far greater than anything . ve had expected and fot this !ve are very grateful. We also wish to thank our 'jj ity officials who allowed us use of Memorial Hall at no charge, as well as helping us out financially. In talking to members of other posts who have held these conventions we larned that the post hosting the convention con-vention usually lost money or at best barely managed to break even. Thanks to the generosity gen-erosity and support of our city officials and Springville business men we were able to realize a fair profit. To all of them, our sincere thanks. Every cent of the money made on this convention will be spent on a community project pro-ject which we will undertake during the next year or so. We intend to carefully select projects which will be of lasting last-ing benefit to our community as well as benefiting the greatest great-est number of people possible. From our experiences in preparing pre-paring for this mid-winter conference con-ference and from remarks made to us by our visiting delegates del-egates we have come to realize real-ize more than evr that Springville Spring-ville is a good place in which to live. Signed, Wayne Cutler, Commander, James H. Mason, Conference Chairman. |
