Show Springville citizens lauded for outstanding job with tourney Sports editor's note: The following fol-lowing letter was received by John A. Jordan, Pony League director of the Central Region, who expressed his appreciation for the fine regional tournament tourna-ment held here last year and which will be repeated here again this fall. The letter follows: fol-lows: To the Citizens of Springville, Now that the 1965 baseball season is about to begin it is time to pause and reflect upon the 1964 season. I as Region Director, have many pleasant memories, and wish to express my sincere thanks to all of you for hosting the Pony Regional Re-gional Tournament last August. Aug-ust. It was the best toumi-ment toumi-ment I have had the pleasure of attending during the twelve years I have been associated with the program. The reception and hospitality accorded the visiting teams and their supporting fans has never been surpassed. The adult support sup-port of the tournament itself was terrific. The playing fie'd is the finest in my regioi and is the only one that is built to the specifications laid down by national headquarters. The officiating of-ficiating has received nothing but the highest praise from all those who were visitors there. For the first time in my memory mem-ory the officials ran the games at all times in a manner to do credit to professional baseball. The hosts and hostesses who opened their homes to the visiting vi-siting teams will never know the feelings they left with the boys. Campbell boys are still talking about it. Last but not least the personnel who planned plan-ned and administered the tournament tour-nament apparently left no stone unturned in their quest to make it a success. When it came time to make the award of the 1965 Pony Tournament all of these fac- tors were considered and though there were many whc wanted to host the tournament I believed that no one could . equal the efforts put forth by Springville people and no one has a ball field that closely approaches yours so with nc hesitation I made the award tc Springville again. I eagerly i look forward to August anc ; sincerely hope that I will be i able to again visit with you al! i Once more, Thank You i Springville, for being the type of people that makes one glac . that they are in this type oi ' work and eager for the start I of another season. I Respectfully, 1 John A. Jordan, Director, i Central Region. |
