The new civic center which will comprise the library, council chambers, utility offices and other service area, is to be completed in February, 1965. It is being built on the City Park at the site of the old City Hall razed early this spring. When the building is completed and walks and driveways installed, together with necessary landscaping, the entire park will take on a more pleasing and modern appearance. The police and fire departments to be housed in structures across Main Street, east from the civic center, are expected to be completed in the very near future. The police expect to move into their new quarters by December 1 and the fire department by October 15. Steve Miller of Springville has the contract for both buildings which comprise a $450,000 project. The contract was let March 16, 1964, on a bid of $417,314, the lowest of six submitted. The contractor is rushing work on both buildings to have them completed com-pleted on the dates scheduled. In the meantime, the city offices are located in the recently remodeled office building on Second South and Main Street; the council meets in Memorial Hall; the police department is still cramped 'in teh same quarters and the fire department is in temporary quarters at the rear of the police building. Attractive in every detail is the west side facade of Spruigvillu's new fire station soon to be corn- 1 pleted on South Main Street. The light-colored lattice work gives the building modernistic look. I : ) i ' . i. ' ' I ill . " ' . . J ' ' . - " l " ,mix t. - ' ' " ' rrWfi SrV-r-'!
