Baden-Powell a,n English army guniuwwimiinmimimBj officer, with ; y' ' the idea of :f training boys j in good ha- l? I bits of work, ., respect and - helpful n s s " to others. ' k I It was an - r f "Unknown: , V.' : Scout" who ; helped to . :. . movement to America. William D. Boyce of Chicago learned of I the Scouts through a chance "good deed" performed by that unknown scout, who guided Boyce through a London fog and refused re-fused to accept money for the courtesy. I Since February 8, 1910, when William Boyce helped to form the Boy Scouts of America, millions mil-lions of boys have learned that famous oath and have been trained in the tradition of the Scouts. That tradition is well symbolized by the Scout badge, which looks like a fleur-de-lys but actually represents the sign for North on the mariner's compass. That badge honors the Scout's steadfastness of purpose, keeping I to his course regardless of the I obstacles. It's a good course for any boy . . . or man. &zi&J&JL I.
