Show Thanksgiving, a time to ponder what we have to be thankful for This week.the traditional time of counting blessings taken for granted throughout the year, we at the Iron County Record give our thanks for blessings we enjoy as citizens of a free democracy. We are erateful for the freedoms which we often ourselves and our allies, but also the hungry thoughout the world. We are thankful for those families throughout this nation and in Iron County who still work the land to provide food for our families. take for granted the right to choose our religious faith, to elect those who govern and the obligations of the governed to guide, to criticize and even condemn con-demn those who misuse their official responsibilities. respon-sibilities. We are thankful for our government in action, on all levels, because, even though we don't always agree with what it does, we realize that it was chosen by us and can be rhaneed bv us. and we We express our wisnes, hopes and prayers that next year, on this day and everyday, we can be thankful for the blessings showered on those less fortunate the presence of the dignity of man among the poor; the return of love, decency and morality into the hearts of the powerful; the enlightening of the minds of those who oppress; op-press; and the returning of peace to this currently troubled world. realize that we are welcome to make input and to strive to make this the best country, state, county and city that can possibly be. As a nation, a county and a people, we are all grateful for the beautifully rich soil we are blessed with and the means to produce food to feed not only On this day of family unity, as we relax from the food and drink which has filled our bodies, we offer a prayer to the god of every faith for unity, love and blessings in the world, such as those felt within our homes this day. |
