Show Recipes for Thanksgiving CANDIED SWEET POTATOES Three-fourths c. light brown sugar a c. light corn syrup 4 tsp. salt 4 c. butter 6 large sweet potatoes cooked, pared and sliced lengthwise. Bring to a boil in large saucepan first 4 ingredients over a low heat while stirring constantly. Place sweet potatoes in large baking dish. Pour sauce over potatoes'. Place in 350 degree oven, uncovered, for 15 minutes. Turn potatoes over and bake 15 minutes longer. Serves six to eight. I have a request from a reader for a method to debone a whole chicken from the inside. Please help! If any of you readers know how it's done, call immediately. WEAVER Record Reporter Thanksgiving is almost upon us, so I thought I'd share a couple of recipes which would be helpful to that first time Thanksgiving chef or to someone who wants something a little different. dif-ferent. YAM APPLE BAKE 6 large rome apples cored and peeled and cut into ' 2 inch slices 3 large fat yams, baked and peeled an cut into xk inch slices Mix: 1 tsp. salt 1 c. sugar V-t tbsp. cornstarch Add above mixture to 2 cups boiling water and 1 cube margarine. Bring to a boil and mix until thick. Start layering apples in the bottom of a 9-by-l2-inch pan. Alternate apples, ap-ples, sauce and yams, ending with the yams on top. Bake at 350 degrees lor 30 to 45 minutes, or until apples are done. |
