Show Record assumes backbone in county-wide service project "Now is the season to be in Cedar City" is the advertising theme of the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce this year, and we think, especially with the recent planting of trees on Cedar City's Main Strpet, that it is time for all of us to begin again to think about beautifying our communities and our county. We at the Iron County Record would like to extend that slogan to "Now is the season to be in Parowan," or "Now is the season to be in Enoch," or "Now is the season to be in Brian Head," or "Now is the season to be in Iron County." Because now is the season, now is the time, to enjoy the beauty of the area, if only we will make and keep it beautiful. Thus, to help in beautifying all of Iron County, the Record is initiating a community service project, beginning this week, entitled "Now is the season." The Record will be working with the Cedar City Beautification Committee in publicizing projects and pleas for help. We will also be offering our help, especially in the area or informing residents, for any worthwhile community clean-up project. We will also be highlighting, whenever possible, -m- mm someone or some group which has done that something special to clean-up and spruce-up the community. Suggestions for such recognition will gladly be accepted by the Record staff. Simply call us or drop us a line. And, as the backbone of the year-long project, we will be offering, free of charge, a clean-up information in-formation line. Those who have questions about cleaning up their lots, about planting trees or about doing any number of projects in their homes or businesses, may call the Iron County Record at 586-1202 586-1202 or 586-1203 for answers to those questions. Of course, many times we will not know the answer, an-swer, but we generally do know someone that will; and we will contact them and get back with you with the answer. Thus, if there is anything we can do to help, besides complain, call. We'll pass the word along about special projects, we'll recognize those who have gone the extra mile in keeping the area beautiful, and we'll try to answer those touchy gardening and housekeeping questions. Again the number is 586-1202 or 586-1203. ' Now is the season. |
