Show SU graduate to coach Bryan has been named the 1982 outstanding physical education graduate at SUSC. He has completed a minor in health. During the 1980-81 season, he served as assistant gymnastics coach at SUSC. He has also taught gymanstics for two years (one year with his wife, the former Becky Kephart of Orange, Calif.) in the Cedar City recreation program. He is giving private gymnastics lessons now. He is also active as a Boy Scouts of America district high adventure supervisor and varsity scouts roundtable commissioner. While at Iowa State, Bryan will complete a masters degree in exercise physiology. f it ' ' -i imiUin Vf.nir i mmmmmmmmmm Bruce Bryan CEDAR CITY - Bruce Bryan, a Southern Utah State College athlete who just graduated, has been named assistant women's gymnastics coach at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. In addition to his regular coaching duties, Bryan will supervise weight training and ' recruitment for Coach Donna Kramer's Big Eight Conference team. I'm excited about the challenge," Bryan says. "We start our training the latter part of August. The first meet comes in December, and then we have competition every week between Jan. 7 and March 18." Iowa State has finished near the middle of the standings in the Big Eight women's gymnastics in recent years. Bryan figures a part of his job will be to move ISU up in the standings. Bryan is a three-time Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference pole vault champion. He also qualified for the NAIA National Track Meet for three years in the pole vault. He graduated from Apple Valley, Calif., High " School in 1974. Prior to coming to SUSC, he attended at-tended Santa Ana (Calif.) Junior College one year. |
