Show Record encourages Parowan Clinic support Sometimes we may not realize it, but good medical care is important to everyone. A little cold here and there or a quick visit to a doctor, even if he is 20 minutes away is fine, but it isn't until We have a major emergency or think about the convenience of having a doctor and medical facilities within our own community that we realize how important it is. Thus, we would certainly hope that the citizens of Parowan will be able to keep a clinic and a doctor in that community, to serve its citizens in a way that doctors and hospitals in Beaver and Cedar City just can't. A lot has been said lately about keeping the clinic in Parowan open. A lot of people have said that it is possible, if the people will support it. Therefore, we hope that everyone in Parowan would come to the public hearing tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the Parowan Library to hear a discussion on the matter and to voice their opinions. Yet, probably more importantly, we hope that the citizens of Parowan will patronize the local facility as much as possible. Sometimes we hate to "lower" - medical care to the same level as other services we buy, but the old addage about shopping at home certainly applies here as well as in other areas. As with anything, if we want good medical care in a community, we have to support it. No doctor, no clinic, no service of any kind will stay in a town if it is losing money. Certainly, there are good doctors in Cedar City and Beaver. Certainly some people have established a good relationship with these doctors, they have become their "family's doctors." Certainly Cer-tainly these are habits that may be a bit tough to break. Yet, next time you have an emergency, do you really want to drive to Beaver or Cedar City for medical care? Or, hitting a little closer to the pocketbook, do you really want to spend the time and money necessary to drive that distance everytime you are sick or need a check-up? All these are good reasons to support the Parowan Clinic, but the overriding one is simply that it is the Parowan clinic, and it would be a shame to lose it, to leave the people of the community com-munity without local medical care. So, again, attend the hearing tonight. Voice your thoughts, support your local facilities. In a word, care. |
