Beaver was one of five Region 12 teams to falter in games throughout the state. Piute fell 70-60 to Tintic, while North Sevier dropped a 58-51 contest to East Carbon. Escalante was. nipped by South Summit 62-58 62-58 and Valley lost a heart -breaker in the last four seconds sec-onds to Park City, 54-53. Parowan romped on North Rich, 78-56 while Kanab toyed with Altamont 74-59. in the history of the school. Hopefully the high school activities association wiU examine carefully the purpose pur-pose behind tournaments. Mil-ford Mil-ford has done well since the days of Wayne Hardy and crew, who gave the Tiger Ti-ger fans a lift for the years to come with much recognized recog-nized hardware for the Tiger's Ti-ger's accomplishments. The first time Beaver made the tournament in 17 years was in 1970. The Beavers Bea-vers have had some exciting excit-ing achievements since that time in the tournament. Last Year they received the consolation con-solation trophy. A beauti- ful piece of hardware for the fans to see. Maybe that could have been repeated this year, who knows. The competition is tough. Only two games were obvious ob-vious victories in the playoffs. play-offs. The others were close contests. Some of the alleged reasons rea-sons for an "8"Team tournament tourn-ament were finances and eliminating eli-minating first day blowouts. Both of those are debateable.
