State recjeves monies The Utah Department of Transportation announced that Utah was among the top recipients to be awarded Federal aid Highway Funds for fiscal year 1979. Under the Federal -aidAct of 1978, monies that are not obligated by the end of the year for which they are appropriated are transferred transfer-red to a discretionary pot where they are disbursed to the states which are in a position to utilize additional revenues for construction. To qualify the applica- must have obligated its regi(l lar funds plus have other highway projects ready to advertise for bidding. The normal allotment for the state of Utah in 1979 was $35 million. The state was able to qualify for two and one half times that amount - $86.5 million. This new Union Pacific Shelter waits to welcome the passengers awaiting the Amtrac 'Desert Wind'. Service begins Sunday, October 28th, however a preliminary run will take place Saturday, October 27th. The public is Invited to greet the train and tour its coach and dining facilities. |
