Show DiGioriGQl Society ! plans planting I S If the sprinkling system at the historical park is com - pleted in time, the Milford i Historical Society plans an j May 6th planting festival involving the wholecommun-I wholecommun-I ity, it was decided at their meeting last Thursday. $500.00 worth of trees and shrubs were authorized to be purchased, and other organizations organ-izations and individuals are invited to participate In the Arbor Day planting May 6th. The group has agreed to accept a $500.00 donation from the Lewis Ward family to be used to help develop the park. A plaque will be placed In the park as a mem -orial to Lewis Ward. The HistoricalSocietywill accept donations such as this, or for organizations and individuals in-dividuals who wish to take a section of the park pick your spot and develop it according to the architect ural plan, and a plaque will recognize you or your organization. or-ganization. A tree may be purchased in memoriam, as well. Those interested should contact the committee of Jay Gustaveson, chairman; Gladys Whittaker or Leora McCulley. A number of trees and shrubs were lost during the dry summer last year, because be-cause the sprinkling system was not adequate to do the job. Additional sprinklers must be added around theD-E theD-E Monument before it is planted. TheCommittee met with the City Council and requested this work be done before Arbor Day. The Historical His-torical Society will supply some funds for materials. The HistoricalSocietywill again hold a Swap Meet to raise funds. Dates are tentatively set for June. |
