Panguitch solidified first place in Division two with a 63-28 win over Bryce Valley, Val-ley, and will have to wait until the second weekend of Round Robin play to see if they can compete with the other half of Region Eight. Their only real test was over Kanab in a practice game after the Cowboys had squeeked by Milford the night before. It's doubtful Coach Hamlin had his Cowboys up for that one, and therefore, the Bobcats have never really real-ly been tested. But there is no doubt that Panguitch will retain their number one position, in the polls until someone proves they can be beaten. In other league action No. Sevier downed Beaver, 58 -44, Wayne surprised Piute, 72-57, and Gunnison bombed Enterprise, 77-54. This weeks play was last night, and no results were in . at press time. The COUNTY NEWS picks were printed in last weeks issue. Next week is Round Robin at Panguitch on Friday and Saturday. A change in the format this year drops the bottom teams, in each division divi-sion with the next to last teams playing off for a tourney tour-ney berth. The first place teams get a bye the first--., weekend, and will come in., cold against the best of the rest. The new ten -team tourney has produced a lot of confusion. con-fusion. It's just like a regular reg-ular eight team tourney the first two days after the above stated playoff. The first place teams in each division bye to the third day, and can do no worse than fourth, if they lose both games. The Division I first |
