Assuring high level of performance consistant with maintaining high quality of service. mary maxey passes nat' l";;" Lab tech exam Mary Maxey, M.T., lab technician at the Milford Valley Memorial Hospital, received notice from the federal fed-eral government this week, that she has passed the national na-tional proficiency examination examina-tion for clinical laboratory technologists. The proficiency exams are part of the procedure by which HEW qualifies certain labs for participation in Medicare -Medicaid. The test is tough, with candidates having to pass each of It's four sections on hematology, blood banking, clinical chemistry and microbiology. Of the 7,337 taking the latest exam in October 1977, only 49.1 percent passed. Of the 1,887 who were taking tak-ing it for the second time, 1,010 failed again. HEW stated three major implications for the testing program: 1. Providing alternate al-ternate procedure for cre-dentiling cre-dentiling health workers who might otherwise be excluded ex-cluded from full recognition; 2. Enlarging possibility of |
