Jilene graduated from high school in Wisconsin, then came to Utah and became a student at Brigham Young University, Univer-sity, where she graduated with a Bachelor Degree in professional flute, and a certificate cer-tificate in teaching. Jilene taught private flute for five ' years as a graduate assist-ant assist-ant at BYU. She also toured Europe with the BYU Acap- pella Choir. Jilene is the granddaughter of Mrs. Cum a Goodwin of Milford. David Burger has studied m usic for five years at Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University where he plans to graduate this summer with a Master's Degree De-gree in band orchestra. He has played the clarinet for 12 years. In 1972, David served an LDS mission in Venezuela. During the sum -mers he has worked for Hatch River & Western River Riv-er Companies, where he runs the white waters of the Green River. David and Jilene were married mar-ried nine months ago in Pro -vo. They both played for The Wind Ensemble and the Utah Symphony. David and Jilene plan to give private lessons in piano, clarinet, flute and vocal. Mr. and Mrs. Burger ask the public for patience with the music program. It is being be-ing completely rebuilt and it will take time to get it running run-ning smoothly. They are planning a Stage Band class before school in the mornings morn-ings and will organize a Pep Band from the best students out of Stage Band and Beginning Be-ginning Band. The Pep Band will play at the games. Mr. and Mrs. Burger will also start a music program at the elementary school. We would like to welcome David and Jilene Burger to Milford and offer them all our cooperation toward a ' successful music program.: Wednesday, Sept. 14, the FHA had their first meeting for the 1977-78 year. Twenty-five girls gathered in the Home Ec. room for games and refreshments. We are looking forward to a lot of activity from this group of girls. Coach Houle had a little help celebrating his 24th birthday, Wednesday, Sept. 14th. After football practice Wednesday, the cheerleaders, cheerlead-ers, Tigerettes, volleyball team and the football team threw a party for Coach Houle. We all hope he had a happy birthday! The Yearbook staff is sponsoring a dance at the elementary school on Sept. 23rd from 9:00 to 11:30p.m. The music is by "Some Dance Kid", and the admission is $1.50 per person. There will be cake walks and the crown -ing of the yearbook royalty at 10 p.m. Homecoming is set for October 14th, and the theme is 'The Year of the Cat". Student council members invite in-vite interested businesses to submit a float. We are looking forward to a big day in Milford, October 14th. Don't forget it!! |
