Show PS preparing Eft on goof normal loosing In response to continued interest in Geothermal leasing leas-ing the Fishlake National Forest is preparing an Environmental En-vironmental Analysis Report. Re-port. The report studies the possible impacts (both good and bad) of Geothermal exploration ex-ploration and development in our area. The area covered cov-ered by the report is 630,-730 630,-730 acres of the Beaver and Fillmore Ranger Districts. This area is basically the entire Pavant and Tushar Mountain ranges. The report re-port is a planning document to assess current applications applica-tions for Geothermal leases as well as expected future applications. The leasing of National Forest lands for geothermal development involves committing com-mitting not only the geothermal geo-thermal resources but also the other resources of the sites involved. Such commitment commit-ment could mean temporary andor long-term impacts on other resource uses. These impacts might include but would not be limited to, reduction in grazing and tim -ber harvest, soil erosion and watershed degregation, road construction, impacts on aesthetic values, wildlife harrassment and habitat reduction, re-duction, increased wildfire hazard. However, development of geothermal resources in an environmentally acceptable manner can have substantial benefits by affording a relatively rela-tively clean source of energy en-ergy for electrical power generation. Public input and comment in this planning effort is welcome. wel-come. Interested parties may give their comments either by mail or in person at the local Forest Service offices in Beaver and Fillmore. |
