One reason is the competition between be-tween the senior citizens to see which community can bring home the most blue ribbons. Each department will have its own junior division. 4-H'ers have the option of entering in the 4-H departments depart-ments or the junior division, or both. However, they must enter separate items if they enter both. Freida Wood is hoping to have as many or more quilts than the last two years. It would seem impossible, she said, but Beaver County has lots of quilters. There should be an overall increase in handiwork though and cer tainly, canning, preserving and candies, breads and home dried vegetables and fruits should have many entries. The antique department is again under the sponsorship of the Milford Historical Society. So-ciety. But, members are agreed to only display a few items each so that there will be plenty of display room for antiques from the rest of the county. Somebody will be on hand at all times to be certain items are not handled han-dled or taken. In fact, somebody will be on hand in all departments, at all times when they are open to the public, and even when the school is closed to the public, a watchman will be on hand. So plan now to enter something and come the the Beaver County Fair. There'll be plenty to entertain you also. A big barbeque is scheduled Thurs -day evening, followed by a barbershop quartet. You'll find just about everything you need to know about the fair in this supplement sup-plement and if you still have questions, call the department de-partment head in the division of your interest. There are new additions to the fair this year. The stock show will be omitted due to a conflict with the Richfield show. However the Minersville Riding Club will sponsor a rodeo, there are new departments in photography pho-tography and competition to design the Beaver County booth at the state fair. This one comes with it the added incentive of $1,000.00, which will be given the winner. After Af-ter building the booth, the organization or-ganization keeps what's left. Adults this year will receive re-ceive cash premiums just the same as the 4-H and Junior divisions. Judges will award ribbons and prizes will be paid on a point basis with Grand Champion worth 10 points, Blue, 5 points, Red, 3 points and White, 1 point. Entries in the Home Arts and Needlework Departments, Depart-ments, all divisions, and 4-H Home Arts departments will be received from 1-5 p.m. on Wednesday. Last minute entries will be received in these departments from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m . Thursday, Thurs-day, August 11. These departments de-partments will then be closed for judging. All other entries, in other departments will be received from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 11, 1977. All departments will be closed at 11:30 for judging. All judges will be competant in their field and imported from out of Beaver County. Departments will be open for viewing of exhibits at 1:00 pjn. or as soon as judging is completed. Produce and Farm Crops will have their own room this year and the Flower Dept. will be expanded to it's own room. A new photography division has been added. HERE'S MORE ABOUT County Fair Friday there's the pet parade, with the COUNTY NEWS supplying ice cream to every entry, plus ribbons and prizes. That evening there will be an outstanding talent show, and on Saturday a horse show and rodeo. |
