"It will be necessary for all citizens in Milford and M inersville to rally behind this project and pledge them -selves and their means to this worthy project," stated Mrs. Gayle Gale, EMT and fund-raising chairman. Mrs. Gale expressed gratitude and thanks to those organizations and individuals who have given giv-en of their time and money The Milford Valley EMT organization (ambulance service) received word last week that they were the recipients re-cipients of an $8,000.00 grant to be used for the purchase of a new ambulance. The grant was a much appreciated appreci-ated surprise for the group, as they had recently been denied matching funds which had previously been promised prom-ised them. Fund-raising activity in the area since January 1, 1977 had been directed toward raisingmon-ey raisingmon-ey to match with the promised prom-ised matching funds from the State of Utah. The new money, in the form of a grant, was made available to the group through the Department of Highways because of the reduced highway high-way fatality rate in 1976. The extreme need for an ambulance ambu-lance was the determining factor in the grant. Arrangements are being m ade by the EMT's to secure additional large sums from other sources which will be announced later. All monies go toward the $20,000 goal. on projects toward the am -bulance. She stated many more have proposed projects for the future. Indicated ways that the interested citizens might help are: 1. Participate with your group or organization when they do their project. 2. Support the projects of other organizations. 3. Send money to the Milford Mil-ford Valley Memorial Hospital Hos-pital Memorial Fund in mem -ory of someone who has passed away. All monies received re-ceived in this department since January 1, 1977 have been earmarked to go to the ambulance, with the exception excep-tion where the money was specified to go elsewhere. 4. Give generous individual indivi-dual contributions. They are tax deductible. They can be sent to Melvin Walker, EMT Treasurer, or to any EMT. A "thermometer" recording record-ing our progress will soon appear in the Beaver County News and another at Jefferson's. Jeffer-son's. Credits to contributors contribu-tors will be given there. |
