Show BIDS OPENED ON SEWER DISTRICT: Sewer and water again came to the fore as the Council Coun-cil opened bids for the Sewer Improvement District on 500 West and read a letter from the Division of Water Resources Re-sources inviting them to attend at-tend a meeting in Salt Lake City on Friday, Sept. 5th. The city made, application for a $300,000 interest-free loan and though the project was reduced to $215,000, it looks as if approval is forthcoming. forth-coming. It is expected that the Board of Water Resources Resourc-es will approve $195,000 in interest-free loans, leaving the city's share of $20,000. The money would be used to complete the second phase of revamping Milford's sewer sew-er and water system. The project calls for no construction con-struction for the proposed alunite boom, but would only on-ly revamp the present system. sys-tem. The first phase was completion com-pletion of the lagoon system and pumping station. Council Coun-cil received final payment of the EPA grant this week, and authorized payment for the land acquisition for the lagoons of $12,000. They still owed $10,155 after the court settlement. In other action, the Council Coun-cil opened bids on the Sewer Sew-er Improvement District on 500 West. Western Rock products was the apparent low bidder at $9,214.70. The only other bid received was &r $11,118.00 from Ash-down Ash-down Bros. Const. Both firms are from Cedar City. On motion by Whittaker, the bids were referred to Engineer En-gineer Matt Bulloch for omissions, and a special meeting was set forMonday, Sept. 8 to award the contract. With Mayor Young, Coun-cilmen Coun-cilmen Jimenez and Hardy absent, there was little business busi-ness to come before the group Tuesday, after the Labor La-bor Day holiday. John Maxey requested permission to hold a street dance to benefit the hospital TV fund on Sept. 27.
