Exhibits will Include a trophy game head display, upland game bird management display, a sportsmen's booth, hunter orange display, and live fawns, desert tortoise and warm-water warm-water fish. The Fair is in Salt Lake City. for children 6 through 12. . In addition, there are special spe-cial days for special groups when discount prices will prevail. On Kids' days, Sept. 7-8, co-sponsored by the Coca Cola Co., children 6-12 will be admitted for eight Coke caps. On Senior Citizens Citi-zens Day, Sept. 10, persons 62 and over pay only $1 and women will be admitted free on Ladies Day (Sept. 11) until 4 p.m. For the price of admission fairgoers can see a wide array ar-ray of attractions, from sky divers to canine comedians, including the following head-liners head-liners who will appear twice daily in the grandstand: B. Sep-. tember 4-14 at the fairgrounds, fair-grounds, 155 North 1000 West, Salt Lake City. Some 320,000 persons are expected to attend the fair, which will open Thursday, September 4at 2:30p.m. with a brief opening ceremony at 3:30 p.m. . The best of Utah's agriculture, agri-culture, horticulture, live-. live-. stock, home arts and the like will be displayed In 13,000 entries from approximately 5,000 individuals throughout the state. New buildings for fine arts and for pigeons and poultry will open their doors at this year's fair. Fair hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily except Sept. 8-9, when the fair will open at 10 a.m. It will conclude at 9 p.m., Sept. 14. Tickets are $2 for adults and $.50 (Sept. 6), Festus and the Dodge City Four (Sept. 7 & 8), Lynn Anderson (Sept. 9), Roger Miller (Sept. 10), La Costa (Sept. 11), Bobby Goldsboro (Sept. 12), Billy "Crash" Craddock(Sept. 13) and Jim Nabors (Sept. 14). Several fun -for-all contests con-tests will be held again this year, including an unusual pet contest (Sept. 6), freckle contest (Sept. 8) and female twin contest (Sept. 11). A new twist in this year's fair will be the absence of a queen contest. Instead, queens from 25 of Utah's counties will reign at the fair on designated days, with each county given special recognition when its queen is honored. The fair will salute Tooele, Utah, Juab, Carbon and Piute counties on Sept. 5-6; Summit, Duchesne, Wasatch, Wa-satch, Rich and Iron counties, coun-ties, Sept. 7-8; Garfield, Beaver, Millard, Sanpete and Sevier counties, Sept. 9-10; Salt Lake, Wayne, Kane, Washington and San Juan counties, Sept. 11-12; and Box Elder, Weber, Morgan, Cache and Davis counties, Sept. 13-14. Holiday on Ice, now in its 30th year, will be presented by the Utah State Fair in the Salt Palace, Sept. 4-13. Performances Per-formances are nightly except ex-cept Sunday at 8 p.m., Sunday, Sun-day, Sept. 7 at 4 p.m. and matinees Sept. 6 and 13 at 2 p.m. Each Holiday on Ice ticket include a free fair admission. |
