(Continued on Page 2) It was a different type of ballgame against Panguitch Friday with the services of Mark Nelson at quarterback and Kevin Ogden on the line. This moved Roger Barnes back to his familiar tight end and opened the offense up, for the 46-7 win over the Bobcats. In fact the Milford offense opened the game up immediately immed-iately when they got the ball. With Sophomore Gary Mayer May-er taking, the kicking chores, the Tigers forced the Bobcats to punt on fourth down. Taking the ball on the 17 yard line, Nelson flipped a sideline pass toMayeronthe line of scrimmage. After fumbling it on his fingertips a couple of times, Mayer hauled it in and scampered 83 yards for Milford's first T. D. There was 10:01 left on the clock in the first quarter. quar-ter. The try for extra points was no good and the score 6-0. The Bobcats, like the Tigers, Tig-ers, are young. Their strength lies with thesopho-mo thesopho-mo res who as freshmen took Panguitch to the State Basketball Bas-ketball Tourney last year. They'll learn with each game and could be tough by the end of the season. But Friday night they had first quarter jitters and after Mayer's second Hdkoff, again were forced to punt on fourth down. With a first down on the I Panguitch 41 yard line, Mayer May-er took a pitch out, and was caught for a four yard loss. On second down, Nelson handed off to Wayne Lounsbury, Louns-bury, who broke through the line to pick up a first down for the Tigers on the Panguitch Pang-uitch 18 yard line. On almost the same play l only cutting right, Barney Thompson took the next ;j handoff and crossed the goal ' for a 12-0 lead for the Tig- 5 ers with 7:15 left in the first 5 quarter. Mayer ran the PAT t and the score was 14-0. The Bobcats fumbled on S second down and it looked as if the Tigers would go again after Lounsbury again gave them a first down 18 yards from the goal. But Nelson got caught for five yard loss, and second down was stopped at the line. A pass to Ken Jones gained eight, but Mayer got only six of the remaining seven yards and Panguitch took over on downs, on their own nine yard line. Lounsbury moved the ball to the Milford 40 for another first down and after a five yard penalty, he drove to the Panguitch 49, picking up another first down. Panguitch intercepted a Nelson pass and sophomore Kevin Fransen started hitting hit-ting his backs and ends, with passes, for a couple of first downs. A sweep left gave the Bobcats another first down on the 6 yard line. A pass interference call put the ball on the three and a face mask penalty placed it on the one and a half. On the next play, Fransen pitched to a back sweeping right and he crossed the goal with 3:24 left in the half. They kicked . the extra point for the 14-7 I I' score.
