"WTTir fjT f r.Ty ' t-jr. -a-w AN ARMY BARRACKS: Father Valine moved this old army barracks from Topaz in 1947 and converted two of them into the Milford Catholic Church and parish house. This picture was taken when they were moved from Topaz. 9 - A r"i I 'QlS FROM CHURCH TO GOLF: In anticipation of building a new Catholic Church in Milford, Father Valine donated the old buildings to the Golf Assn. for use as a club house. Last week, Jim Freeman of Freeman Equipment undertook to move the old Army Barracks that had been moved from Topaz for the church many years ago. In above picture Jim and Father Valine pose before moving out onto the street. i 'S3 I jt I ( lu J 4 I ALMOST THERE. . . Friday morning the procession began - reaching the Golf Course without mishap. The building was backed up to the foundation ,that had been poured in anticipation. 1 -- 1 jA VLJrzz --r r.' 1 . ' - , - . t , ' . , , 4 ., - THE SHOCK WAS TOO GREAT. . . as the dollies dropped over the foundation and the building shuddered and began to collapse . . . FINALLY FOLDING UP like an accordion. All is not lost. . . The lumber can be used to build from scratch. Some local contractors feel that the building can again be resurrected, a wall at a time. |
