Show The Cedars are getting a good workout again this year beside lots of intimate little steak frys, Saturday night last week and for the next two weeks saw or will see big crowds turning out to the famous fam-ous steak frys in the Cedars. o Last week the Lions had their big blast, with members and invited guests only. This Saturday night the Democrats have their annual fund raising rais-ing affair at Big Rock for all Democrats with the price of a ticket. And a week from Saturday, Sat-urday, the Milford Wildlife Protective Assn. will meet at Bert Merryweather's Cabin in Ranch Canyon for their annual steak fry. Everyone interested is invited. In all cases you bring your own steak and utensil:. o Thanks to Keith Whittaker and SMR, I got a quick ride in the Swamp Fox the other day. I've been interested in ATV's (All Terrain Vehicle) for some time but, never felt I could justify the expense for pure recreation. But there is no doubt that they will cover ground where almost nothing else will go and do it faster. fast-er. It can turn on a dime and give you four cents change. Keith says he s been able to cover more of his mining properties prop-erties and the country around Milford in the last couple of weeks than in the past twenty yeari. Looks like just the thing for the prospector, recreationist and I understand, back east they have a whale of a time racing them over obstacle courses. One thing, they ought to be great for rock hounds and packing out big game. Stop over to SMR and ask Keith for a demo ride. Might be just what you're looking for. Finally City Hall is starting to take a reasonable attitude towards to-wards new construction. And abou time! Monday night they decided, maybe, just maybe, that if the developer put in his own lines from the existing main and then turned the new lines over to the city free of charge, he just might not be obligated to pay the normal hook-up fee. o The catch here is that the hookup fee, originally was a flat rate fee to pay for laying the sewer lines and water lines and was paid when you hook- cA tin Kiit in thu TW5t has been assumed to be a fee for perpetual care though when ever any care of major proportions, pro-portions, came up, the city fathers floated another bond issue and make the taxpayer dig a little deeper to pay for it 0 Actually, all that has been done is to authorize Councilman Council-man Swain to have an ordin-j ance drawn up, which will make reasonabe provision for the man Who develops a piece of property, to keep from paying pay-ing through the nose twice. First to lay the lines, and second, sec-ond, by paying the same hookup hook-up fee which is paid by those hooking into city run lines. Secondly, it could give him some relief at the time that other property along the route of the sewer and water lines laid at the 'builder's expense, by allowing a period of recoup if the property is developed and others hook into the mains paid for by the developer. o Naturally there will be a time limit on anything of this nature, but it is a step in the right direction maybe it will be possible to alleviate the housing problem within th city I have from three fr five nacpfiiq lrnki"? for l place to live in the shop each week and how many of our mill and railroad emplayees are commuting from Milford to Minersville anc'. Beaver. Housing is one of our greatest great-est needs if Milford is going to progress, as a matter of fact, Milford must have more housing hous-ing just to hold its own, what with the population growing older, and families getting smaller it takes more roofs to house fewer people. |
