Show EARTH DAY ESSAYS Part of the Earth Day activities ac-tivities included poster making and writing essays depicting pollution, etc. The winning posters are displayed around the stores on main street and several of the essays will be run in the News as space permits. per-mits. The winners in the poster contest were 7th grade: 1st. Charlene Jones and LuAnn Jim- enez; 2nd, Cindy Bolton and Lois Price and 3rd, Kevin Og-den Og-den and Tom Thompson. 8th grade: 1st Doug Mayer and Roger Hatch; 2nd Ber-nice Ber-nice Gray, Cheryl Jones; 3rd Cherie Hiatt and Leila Pipher. 9th grade: 1st Robin Hawkins, Hawk-ins, Ken Yardley; 2nd Russell Rus-sell Yardley and Phillip Bailey; Bail-ey; 3rd ' Ann Coates and Debra Pipheiv THINK! Is there no solution To Ameica's pollution? The rivers and oceans Are like poisonous potions. Almost all transportation Is exhausting our nation. All the smokers who smoke, Make us non-smokers choke! We can't enjoy once beautiful park : Because pollution is leaving it's marks. You can't enjoy any scenery When you take a trip - - . ni greenery. There soon will be no outdoor sports. Because of pollution of many sorts. No football, no baseball, track or golfing Because of the air we will be engulfing. I wish that this poen would rpak - you think. If you don't do something our earth will stink. Before too long, you'll see a hazo In the sky that will last for days. The smog and the fog will do Inner damage to me and you. Let people know you care About pollution in our air. Think of the wild life That soon will have no life. Stand up and be heard! Give America the word. That something must be done abou; pollution.
