Show MRS. FREDA WOOD RETIRES By Pat Williams Mrs. Freda Wood of Miners-ville Miners-ville bids goodbye to the school room after being a schoolmarm for a good many years. Mrs. Wood has taught in Rich County High School, Minersville Junior High and Elementary School, and at the time of her retirement was teaching at Belknap Elementary Element-ary in Beaver. She graduated from Utah State University in Logan, and has done post-graduate work at the U of U, SUSC, and at Utah State. She married Wm. H. Wood, Minersville farmer and rancher. ranch-er. They have two sons, Vern and Noel, Minersville, and a daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Lurth, Los Angeles; nine grandchildren. grandchil-dren. Mrs. Wood has been active in county civic and church affairs. af-fairs. She was county Republican Repub-lican Chairman, served as a member of the Minersville Town Board, and worked for many years with 4-H Clubs. She was a Sunday School teacher for 20 years, president of the Relief Society, and has been active in all LDS auxiliaries. auxil-iaries. She is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Auxil-iary. Last April she was honored by her fellow teachers. A turkey tur-key dinner was served to 42 teachers at the Ponderosa Cafe, in Beaver. "With five granddaughters to sew for and my gardening, I'll have plenty to do after retiring." She plans to also continue with her church and civic work. |
