Show MHS STUDENTS SWEEP VOCATIONAL DAY From the Hill Top Echo Industrial Education Day was held on May 5 this year. There were many good projects entered en-tered in this contest from Mr. Gay's shop and drafting classes and Mr. Jensen's electronics class. Industrial Arts Day was held in Cedar City on the SUSC campus, as it has in the past. The bus left Tuesday morning morn-ing at 6:30 and arrived in Cedar Ce-dar City at 7:30. During the next hour, all projects were registered for the contest. From that time on until after noon, the projects were judged. During this period there were different contests and demonstrations demon-strations for all the students to attend. Students placing in contest were: Dale Mellor first and Jeff Edwards second in electronics; Bill Powell third in drafting. In the afternoon the field-house field-house was open for the viewing view-ing of projects, where they were all registered. There were many different, interesting entries from all over the region. Later, prizes were given to the winners of the contests and excellent projects proj-ects were either given a superior, su-perior, first, second or third place rating. Just about all of the projects entered in the contest from Milford placed in the contest. A purple ribbon is a superior or sweepstakes winner, a slue ribbon being first place, a second place received re-ceived a red C ribbon, and a white ribbon is a third place. These were the project winners: win-ners: Purple Gary Smith and Jeff White; Blue Calvin Elmer, Dale Mellor, Kevin Long, Tom McGinn, Kris Yardley and Debbie Thompson; Red Doug Wright, Ken Bailey, Calvin Elmer, Wayne McCulley, Robert Rob-ert Edwards and Kris Yardley; White Dale Mellor, Scott Bealer, Brent McCulley, Jim Rimpau and Ken Holm. Students receiving places in drafting projects were: Bill Powell, Steve Workman, Laurel Laur-el Davis and Diane Wiseman taking a second (red place; and Gay Boyter taking a third (white) place. The following Friday Mr. Gay took a load of the better projects to the State Industrial Education Day on the Utah State Campus In Logan. Students Stu-dents placing in State were: Tom McGinn, first place; Jeff White, Dale Mellor and Ker Holm, second place; and Bill Powell, Jim Rimpau, Robert Albrecht and Gary Smith, third place. Congratulations to all of these students for their fine job in representing our school so well. |
