DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE CAN HELP MILFORD MOVE FORWARD By GLADYS WHITTAKER Things are looking up for Milford! The Old Timers could have told you not to count the old town down and out yet. They have seen it roll with the punches through good times and bad. After severe cutbacks of employees by the railroad, closing of the mill, and phasing out of the A. T. & T. operations here in our community last year, we are ready to see a cloud with a silver lining! straps. Let's all get involved in building a bigger, brighter future for our town! We have no'.'hing to lose by trying, and so much to gain. We look forward with antici- pation to further mining development de-velopment in our area in the near future. We also look forward for-ward to being a part of the growth and development of this community through our own efforts. The Milford Industrial Foundation Foun-dation has been working for some time trying to promote new industry in our area. Through their efforts, we as a community are now in a position po-sition to submit a bid to purchase pur-chase the AT&T building. It should be available by midsummer. mid-summer. It would certainly be an asset to have a well-constructed well-constructed building to offer a company interested in locating in our area. It could easily be converted to many types of industry. No one has an axe to grind; they are interested only in working for the people and the future of Miliord. To secure funds to acquire' the building we are asking that the citizenes become a part of this Foundation by investing $50 for membership dues. Those who are unable to pay this much can be a contributory member by donating what they can toward the project. This j is an expensive building we are considering and we must be able to submit a reasonable bid for it. To do this we need "tTie support of the community. . We are a non-profit organi-v organi-v z'ation, but our legal advisors tell us that we can repay all money donated when the building build-ing is leased and we have funds to do so. All contributors contrib-utors will receive receipts for all money donated. We can sit back and wait for someone to hand us that "pot of gold" at the end of the rainbow, or we can get on the bandwagon and do something some-thing to help ourselves. By pulling together we can make "Operation Bootstrap" a reality. real-ity. We can literally pull ourselves our-selves up by our own boot- |
