Show SCOUTS WILL HOLD POW-WOW The fourth annual Boy Scout Merit Badge Pow-Wow, sponsored spon-sored by Snow College University Univer-sity of Scouting and the Utah National Parks Council will be held on January 3, 17 and 31, according to Paul Turner, council field director. Over 20 merit badge subjects will be in eluded, with Scouts and Explorers signing up for three of the merit badges. The pow-wow is limited to Scouts or Explorers who are second class rank or higher. Applications are available from each district advancement chairman, and should be completed com-pleted and returned to Snow College by Dec. 19. Fee for the pow-wow is $2 per participant partici-pant and includes a swim at the Ephraim muicipal pool on one of the pow-wow days. Directing the pow-wow is Ross Findlay of Snow College, council area training chairman. He will be assisted by Mr. Turner and Lloyd Hawkins, district dis-trict Scout executive of Nephi. All Scouts and Explorers in the area were urged to attend the pow-wow to continue with their advancement program. A special feature of this pow-wow will be a session for adult leaders during each of the three pow-wow days. The program will begin at 12:30 p. m. each day and finish at 4 p. m. Mr. Findlay said that pre-registration is needed so that classes can be scheduled sched-uled at the proper time and so that class size can be limited. Most of the instructors for the pow-wow will be members of the Snow College faculty and regular merit badge counselors residing in the Ephraim area. LADY ENGINEERS HAVE PARTY The Lady Engineers started their Christmas party with a 1 o'clock luncheon last Thursday Thurs-day at the home of Mrs. Mae Colborn, and afterwards elected elect-ed new officers and played cads. . New officers are Mrs. Garnet Gar-net Garfield, president, succeeding suc-ceeding Mrs. Florence Barnes; Mrs. Esther Blake, vice president; presi-dent; Mrs. Kate McDonald, secretary; Mrs. Garnetta Hollis, treasurer; Mrs. Mae Colborn, chaplain; Mrs. Marvel Connell, guide; Mrs. Mildred Coon, sentinel; sen-tinel; Mrs. Eva Banks, delegate, dele-gate, and Mrs. Ethel Smith, alternate delegate. Prize winners at pinochle were Mrs. Eva Banks and Mrs. Virginia Fowles; at bridge, Mrs. Flo Barnes and Mrs. Freda Smith, and cut prizes went to Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Blake. . Others attending were Mrs. Wanda Treat and Mrs. Vera Cooper. |
