Show SCOUT UNITS HAVE NEW STANDARDS A national standard for measuring meas-uring the programs of packs, troops and posts has been established es-tablished by the National Council Coun-cil for all packs, troops and posts in America, according to Paul Turner, field director for the Utah National Parks Council. At registration time, a Scout unit indicates how is measured up in the items called for on the charter application. For a Cub Scout Pack the requirements require-ments are: (1) Re-register at least 50 of the Cub Scouts; (2) At least 50 of those reregistering re-registering who were enrolled during the first nine months of the charter year have advanced ad-vanced a rank; (3) The pack planned and carried out at least two activities during the summer months. The national standard for troops is: (1) Register at least 55 of Boy Scouts. (2) At least 50 of those re-registered who were enrolled during dur-ing the first nine months of the charter year have advanced ad-vanced a rank. (3) Troop conducted con-ducted a long-term camp (at least six consecutive days). (4) Troop conducted a total of 10 days and nights of camping camp-ing during charter year (can include days in long-term i camp). For Explorer Posts the national na-tional standard includes: (1) Re-register at least 55 of Explorers. (2) Conduct at least 20 activities (post meetings count in the total) during the year. (3) Conduct elected officer of-ficer training during charter year. (4) Conduct at least one superactivity during the charter char-ter year. Mr. Turner said the national goal is for at least 75 of all units in America to be national standard ' units by 1976. He urged unit leaders to consider these requirements as they plan the program for their Scouting units. |
