Show DAVE MORRIS HIT BY SNIPER BULLET Dave Morris, conductor for the Union Pacific, "knew exactly exact-ly what happened'" when he was struck by a sniper's bullet bul-let while taking a freight train f.-.jm Milford to Lab Vegas. He was wounded in action during World War II, and the feel of ia bullet tearing his flesh was familiar. About 5 a. m. last Saturday, 60 miles north of Las Vegas, 22 magnum bullets were fired at the caboose. Hearing the shells hit the caboose, Mr. Morris Mor-ris leaned forward, thinking "something was wrong with the train:""" The fourth shot struck him in the upper arm, and shattered glass also penetrated his arm. Doug Gilliam, riding in the cupola of the caboose with Mr. Morris, also was cut by shattered glass, and assisted Mr. Morri n halting the bleeding. bleed-ing. The niper has not been identified, but Nevada police are continuing the investiga-I investiga-I tion. |
