Show THIS WEEK IN MINERS'ILL By GWEN 1 RYOR Vic Jameson of Sacramento, Calif., is with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Jameson. It is the first time in five years they have seen each other. SM Allen Dotson left Wednesday Wed-nesday for his new U. S. Navy assignment at San Juan, Puerto Rico, after a 20-day leave spent here with his mother, Mrs. Ruth Dotson. He will be in Puerto Rico for two years. Accompanying Allen as far as Las Vegas were his mother and fiance, Miss Sandra Murdock. Mrs. Anna Rae Carter is in St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake. Her husband Max spent Saturday and Sunday with her, while she underwent minor surgery. Mr. and Mrs. Vance Marshall, Mar-shall, Mr. and Mrs. Fay Marshall Mar-shall and Mr. and Mrs. Alton Marshall motored to St. George Sunday on a business and pleasure trip. Donetta Carter, daughter of , Mr. and Mrs. Kent Carter, celebrated cel-ebrated her 14th birthday on Jan. 6th. The LDS Primary Lehoma Girls will entertain their dads at a Dinner Daddy Date on Jan. 16. The dinner will be pot luck, furnished by the girls. A Mutual Vooel Quartet Festival Fes-tival will be held at the LDS Church on Tuesday evening, Jan. 21. A quartet will be selected se-lected from the group to compete com-pete in the MIA Stake. Howard Pryor and Don Yardley spent a pleasant day in St. George last Sunday, golfing. O Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Edwards Ed-wards are leaving for Boron, Calif., to spend the remainder of the winter with their children, chil-dren, Mr. and Mrs. Bobbie Griffiths and Mr. and Mrs. Dave Posey. Mrs. Gwen Pryor was released re-leased Wednesday from the Milford Valley Hospital after undergoing treatment for two weeks. Word has been received of the death of Raymond Williams, Wil-liams, 35, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Williams. He was accidently shot Jan. 5th near Sacramento, Calif., while hunting. Funeral services were held last Thursday in Sacramento. Sacra-mento. Mrs. Gertrude Marshall is now at home after being confined con-fined to the Milford Valley Hospital and the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pipher and daughters are living in the rental house of Mrs. Lola English Eng-lish at Main and Center. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Roberts, Rob-erts, Mr. and Mrs. Sheral Carter, Car-ter, Mrs. Nettie Myers and Mrs. Bertha Cusick attended funeral services in Trona, Calif.,, last Thursday for Tod Smith, and spent a few days at the home of Mrs. Cusick in Arcadia, Calif. Jeff Marshall took his father fath-er and mother in law, Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Puffer of Beaver, Beav-er, to Salt Lake, where they will spend several weeks while Mr. Puffer receives medical attention. O Last Wdnesday evening Mrs. Daisy Gillins and Mrs. Rachel Eyre entertained the Literary Club at the home of Mrs. Gillins. Gil-lins. Mrs. Merle Bradfield gave the book report on the Life of a Chinese Girl, and Mrs. June Pearson gave an interesting in-teresting report on the Growth of a Peanut. Mrs. Daisy Gillins reports that $265 in U. S. Savings Stamps have been sold at the Elementary School. The program pro-gram is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary. The regular meeting of the Amer;can Legion Auxiliary was held Wednesday evening at the home oif Mrs. Altheda Gillins. In the absfnce of th- president, Gertrude Marshall, the meeting was conducted by Mrs. Elma Blackburn, vic-a president. Mrs. Virginia Marshall was appointed essay chairman, and Mrs. Gillins poppy chairman. Light refreshments were served after the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Andy Bohn left Monday for Salt Lake, and Mr. Bohn underwent a cataract operation Tuesday in St. Mark's Hospital. The Minersville Eighth Grade basketball team defeated the Beaver Eighth Graders, 49 to 27, on Jan. 10th. The Explorer Scouts lost their basketball game to the Beaver First Ward Explorers on Jan. 9th. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Dal-'ton Dal-'ton are building a basement on their newly purchased lot in preparation for a Boise Cascade prefab home. |
