Show Rampton Re-elected Governor JEFFERSON, HY LEE WIN IN COUNT. ' Richard Nixon won the race for President1 of the United Slates in a vote so close the final decision was not known until late Wednesday morning, when the Illinois vote was tabulated. Later, Calfornia's: electoral votes went into the Nixon column, giving him a popular vote 'of 29,726,409 and 287 electoral votes. Demo cratic candidate Humphrey re ceived 29,677,152 popular votes and 166 electoral votes, and George Wallace, third party candidate, polled 9,291,807 votes and 45 electroal votes. In Utah, Calvin Rampton wag re-elected governor, with Clyde Miller as secretary of state.
