Show TIGERS BOW TO HURRICANE; MEET Last Friday's Homecoming game was a disappointment to students and hometown fans, but the performance of the Tigers was something else. They played their best game of the year, and excapt for a last-quarter pass by the invading invad-ing Hurricane Tigers, the game would have ended in a tic. Early in the first stanza Theo Smith went over from the 4 on a quarterback keeper, t? put Milford in front. In the second quarter, Jerry Pierce intercepted a pass for Hurricane and moved to the Milford 9, and two plays later Ken Gubler went over from tho 1. There was no scoring in the third quarter, and in the final period Hurricane intercepted a Milford pass and went inside the 10. Here Milford showed their mettle, and thrilled the fans with a determined goal line stand. They couldn't move the ball and had to kick out, and with less than 5 minutes to go Gubler hauled in a Hurricane pass and romped for a TD. The kick was good, making the score 13-6 Hurricane. With 2 minutes to go in the game, a Milford defensive play irrcensed the Hurricane squad, and a melee started. Almost the entire benches of both teams, augmented by spectators spectat-ors from both sidelines erupt- d "' Onto" the "field, and when order was finally restored the officials called an end to the game. Friday of this week the Tigers meet Beaver in an afternoon game at Beaver, starting at 1 p. m. |
